Friday the 13th here in the U States. Superstitionists think it's a bad day. It's just an ordinary day like any other. Chilly here today, temperatures in the 30's, some snow on the ground from a storm a couple days ago.
I'm snuggled into my chair to begin this journey with you after some long discussions with our Father. My darling daughter Sara, I think of you and Babu and Timothy every single day with prayer.
This blog is all about the prompting of the Holy Spirit and I sensed that I was supposed to look up the meaning of your names. You probably know, but here's what I learned. Your name sweet girl, means precious; princess; pure; excellent; pleasant.
I find this really interesting because as I was settling in to write this morning I kept being impressed by the idea of us being daughters of the King and since the blog title daughtersoftheking was already taken, the logical alternative was daughtersofthekingofindia. You in India are indeed daughters of the King and our Father in heaven is indeed the King of India as He is King of Kings. That makes you a Princess.
But The Lord impresses on me there's more to it than that Sara. We're connected for a reason. It's no accident I wrote my testimony on some Christian website I don't even remember and you came upon it. It's no accident we have built this relationship over the past so many months, over a year now - how long has it been? And the Lord is impressing other things on me but that's for another time.
Today, we're going to talk about the King.
John 18:37 Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." NIV
The very definition of a king is the chief authority over people and country. Jesus reigns over the world. He is THE AUTHORITY over all the world. That means his authority is the same here as it is in India, China, Russia, France, England, Switzerland, Africa, New Zealand, and everywhere in the world. He is the King of Truth with all authority over every nation and every people group.
Who are the children of a king? His sons and daughters, princes and princesses. Now in order to be a son or daughter, one must be born or adopted. When we are given the gospel message, that's our invitation to be born again into the Kingdom of Heaven under the authority of the King of Kings. Then we become the princes and princesses of Jesus our King.
Our King is a righteous and loving King - He excludes no one.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. NIV
In America, common problems of society and faith include immorality, greed, addiction, violent crimes and lawlessness, false religions, and no religion. In India, one huge issue to overcome is Hinduism; idolatry.
2 Cor 6:16-18
16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."
17 "Therefore come out from them
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you."
18 "I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty." NIV
When you were saved by the atoning death of Jesus Christ and committed to follow His ways, you gave up the old ways, the idols and superstitions. We die to ourselves and find new life in Christ. Now you must teach the women with love and gentility to smash those idols. Pray with them for release of the fears and hope attached to them. When you pray for the women, lay your hands upon them gently, on their head, shoulders or upper back, gently stroking with the love of the Holy Spirit flowing through you into them. Pray that the Holy Spirit would replace their faith in those idols with faith in Christ alone, that He would fill them with His strength, divine guidance, hope, healing, and love for humanity. Pray for their peace and a burning desire to share the gospel with other women.
You must teach the women to teach their children about the Bible. Teach meaningful stories that are simple but that children can enjoy using crafted examples. Have them build a little arc with found objects while telling about Noah's Arc. Make a little basket of straw to float on a stream while telling about Moses being hidden in the reeds and found by Pharaoh's daughter.
Sara, an excellent precious princess daughter of the King. You have been chosen. How does it feel? He died in the battle to save your life because He loves you so much. And now He has called you to rise up and go forth. He will guide you every step of the way Princess.
Let's close in prayer for today.
Father, thank you for this time together with Sara and all our sisters in India. Our time is so precious and we're grateful you've brought us together. Thank you for our ministries. Thank you for the food we have, for our shelters. Thank you for our families, friends, and fellowship in You.
We lift Your holy name in praise! We lift our hands O Lord, we bend our knees, we bow down. We are not worthy of the dirt at our feet and yet You love us so much You became like us and gave Your own blood so we could live. How great is thy love Father! We lift our hands high to the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Creator of heaven and earth and all that is. You are God and there is none like you!
Forgive us dear Lord for our transgressions. No matter how hard we try, we always fall short in big ways or small. Forgive our anger, selfishness, laziness, sloth, greed, envy, jealously, lust, apathy, judgment, callousness, unkindness, or whatever it is that gnaws at our souls, interfering with our relationship with You and our ability to spread the gospel with love and joy. Thank you for what You've already done to cleanse us white as snow that we should be called the sons and daughters of God.
We humbly come before Your throne of grace now with our requests, should You choose to honor them. I would ask that you grant Babu with supernatural strength, endurance, and wisdom as he goes from village to village preaching the gospel. I pray that the Holy Spirit goes before him to every man, woman, and child old enough to understand to prepare their hearts to received the message and it would be clearly heard and understood and they would turn from their idol worship and commit their lives to Christ and be saved.
Father I ask for Sara that You would infuse her with confidence and wisdom to be able to teach the women of her village about the Bible, to teach the children, and to teach the women to teach their own children. She is quite young herself Lord and this is a big task but we know that with You all things are possible. We also know that the teacher learns more than the student often times so perhaps You have chosen her for this task for her own sake. Grant her whatever she needs to be effective and joyful in the work she's been called to do for Your kingdom. And may all be done for Your glory!
