JOHN 1:4-5

John 1:4-5
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. NKJV

I believe these are two of the most powerful verses in the whole of Scripture. In the few verses prior which we studied previously, we're told the Word was with God from the beginning, and the Word created all things. Without Him, nothing would be.

Now God says, He brings life and light to men. In Him was life intimating it came with Him. The life was the light of men. This tells us without the life of Jesus, there is no light in us. Nothing good.

And now, verse five tells us, the light shines in the darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it. There is no commentary that explains this to me and I'm inclined to believe by guidance of the Holy spirit that darkness refers to ignorance and evil. Light refers to righteousness and holiness. Despite the dark void of this world that was ignorant of the light of Christ, uncomprehending of His majesty and truth, Jesus brought life and light to this darkness. Enlightenment if you will.

Now for your people in India, this may be of great import for many eastern religions are based on the desire for enlightenment. True enlightenment is realizing that Jesus is Christ is Savior to all and that no man comes to the Father (enters heaven) except through His grace. (John 14:6)

I urge you then Sisters of the east, worship our Lord, sing praise to Him, give thanks to Him for He is worthy of all praise and thanksgiving. He who died for our sins awaits our return home but relies on us now to tell others of His love. For we carry His light to shine for others. We must light the way. He is the way, the Truth and the Life, we are the lanterns.

Let us pray together as one then.

Our dear Heavenly Father, how amazing are Your ways. We cannot even fathom Your great power and vast abilities. You who were before all time, continue now and will ever be, You who created every atom of the cosmos, You who breathed life into and light into each of us. Holy are You Lord God most High, Jehovah Rohi, precious Shepherd who guides us. Light of the World, You blot out all darkness, You are our Shield and our Refuge. May our meager offerings of praise please You O Lord most high.

Father forgive us for all the ways we have failed to  measure up this week; for those we didn't speak to about Jesus when we had the chance, for times we didn't offer a helping hand when we should, for days we were selfish and unthoughtful or angry and hurtful towards family members. Forgive us sweet Jesus for all thoughts and actions that offended You. Empty us of all our sin and cleanse us by Your blood and holiness. Thank You for paying the price for what we deserve.

Thank You Father for our lives, shelter, food, our families, safety this week, communication, the air we breathe, water to drink, trees, and all the beautiful things You have created. Thank You for making this amazing planet for us to live on and giving us a beautiful starry sky to gaze upon at night, for the sun, the moon, the rain, and all kinds of weather. Thank for the difficulties we face that make us stronger, better wives, mothers, sisters, daughters, and friends. Thank you Jesus for everything.

We come now humbly before you on our knees Lord Jesus in supplication to make our requests known. First and foremost we ask that You mold us into women who stand up for the name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let not our steps falter but that we would go forward steadily together trusting in Your name and Your Word. Protect our families, especially the men as they go out to work and risk ridicule, job loss, and worse just for being a Christian. Open the eyes, ears and hearts of the people of India that they would hear the Truth and turn from their idols before it's too late. Bless my brothers and sisters in this great Land Father for your purposes, for your Word says, all things work out for the good of those who love the Lord and are called to His purposes (Romans 8:28,29.) Finally Lord, I ask Your blessing of abundant funding. Provide please for travel to India to AP, EGD, for Bibles, for missionaries to go and evangelize the area, for church plants, and for church plants all over the country. You are God! You have the power. We pray according to Your promises and for Your glory, in the holy name of Jesus, amen.

Love to you all,
Mama anne
