John 1:6-13
6 There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through Him all men might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. 12 Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God. NIV
John the Baptist was the man John the Apostle spoke of in Verse 6. He was a relative of Jesus. In Luke 1:26-41, the story is told of two miraculous conceptions. One to an old woman who could not conceive, the other to a young virgin. Those two women were Elizabeth and Mary, distant relatives. The vary same Angel, Gabriel, who assured Zacharias that his wife would conceive and bear him a son in her old age, also told Mary she would bear the Savior of the world by conception of the Holy Spirit and virgin birth. And so it happened.
Now again, John comes before Jesus, telling the world of the Savior, who came to bring life to all who believe in Him.
Dear ones, if you believe in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of God, True God, One with God and the Holy Spirit, you are Daughters of the King of Kings. The King of India is the King of America is the King of Iran is the King of Great Britain is the King of China - King of everywhere and everyone. He is Lord of Lords, God of gods, True God, Almighty God, Everlasting God, Holy and perfect. There is none like Him. And we, by the power of the blood of Christ in His atoning death on the cross, are His daughters!
No matter what our circumstances, we are promised a new body and an inheritance in our heavenly Father's kingdom. Paul reminds us, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory." Col 3:2-4
But until then ladies, there is much to do!
We must keep our eyes heavenward, seeking after His heart at all times, calling on the Holy Spirit to guide us in our daily activities and in our tone of voice when we speak to our husbands, children and others. We must daily, many times if need be, ask forgiveness for our sins or sinful intentions (and yes, gossip, unkind remarks, and wishing bad on someone counts.) Truly we must prepare ourselves for that moment when we face our Lord. Will He say to us, "well done, good and faithful servant," or will he say, "away from me, I never knew you"? Let us not be hypocrites and speak with our mouths but sin with our actions for the world will know Him (or not) by what they see us do and hear us say.
Don't think for one minute I reprimand any of you or stand in judgment as if I'm above you in any way. Far be it from me. I'm ashamed that I confess more in a day than anyone has a right to. I thank God constantly that he is loving, merciful and faithful to forgive. I never intend to sin, or do it with carelessness. Anger happens; words I didn't mean to say fly out of my mouth; harsh attitudes overcome me at times; and sometimes I'm not altogether honest. Confessing and making amends is so much harder than just doing what's right but God is good and brings reconciliation to us and those we've offended. For we are His children, and He loves us, just as we love ours. Forever.
Let us pray.
Dear Lord, I confess to you now before I can even praise, that I have not been truthful about the times I entered on my child's medicine reports to make them look more uniform. I know that the times I give her medicine are within the doctor's limits but fear being confronted by management with questions and having to get more documentation from the doctor. Please forgive me and remind to me to be honest at all times. I want to be like Jesus. Forgive me for unholy thoughts, temper outbursts, nasty words I've blurted out that were offensive to You though no human ear was present. I'm sorry in my soul for being short tempered with my children and husband. Cleanse me from the inside out Jesus. Thank You for the cross, for the blood You shed for my sake and for all who call on Your name, confess their sin and ask Your forgiveness.
Praise Your sweet name Jesus. You are Lord. Jehovah Jireh, You provide for all we need. Like babes at the breast, You nourish our souls. You give us food to eat. You cover us with fine fabric. You gave us eyes to see, ears to hear, a mouth to speak, a nose to smell, taste buds to enjoy our food, and a marvelous heart, blood and nervous system to make our bodies function. We are perfectly created by You. You are the provider. Jehovah Rophe, You heal us. You heal our broken hearts when bad things happen, You lift our spirits when we sing praises, You heal our bodies when we're sick. You are the Great Healer. Jesus, Hosanna in the Highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Holy, Holy, Holy are You Lord Most High. We worship and adore You, forever and ever, amen.
Please imprint the Words of Scripture upon our hearts this week as we remember what John tells us about our inheritance. We who are unworthy have been chosen by you to be called daughters of the Most High God. There are no words that to express our gratitude. Abba, Father, may we bless you as we go about our business this week. Would we bless You in the way we speak to our husbands, in the way we minister to our children's needs, as we discipline our children, in the ways we treat our friends and family members, and how we treat those we meet along the way. Help us to be alert at all times for opportunities to share the gospel message of hope and always seek the Holy Spirit to speak through us when we do share Jesus with others. In the precious name of Jesus we pray, amen.
Until next time my sisters, be well.
Love in Jesus,
Mama Anne
